Do you know that being obese pose the same danger as that of smoking?
Researchers found that death rates were lowest in people who had a BMI of 23 to 24, on the high side of the normal range.
BMI or the body mass index is the statistical measurement which compares a person's weight and height. This tool is used to determine the healthy body weight based on how tall a person is.
Studies indicate that those who were morbidly fat — those with a BMI above 40 — lost about 10 years off their expected lifespan, similar to the effect of lifelong smoking.
Aside from the effects of obesity, the complications to the digestive and cardiovascular system have significant effect to the mortality rate.
